Beginning literally as a small and quaint village of daub wild life, jungle, huts, houses and hotels, it has grown into a small town with hotels, resorts, restaurants, internet cafes, and gift shops.
Hotel Parkland is situated in perhaps the best part of Sauraha. Just 10 minutes walk from the center of Sauraha and only a minute away from the Park and its office. The hotel is run by an experienced and dynamic person who has been involved in the field of hospitality since 1987.
The village is the eastern gateway to the nearby and large Chitwan National Park, that protectis part of the Terai-Duar savanna and grasslands ecoregion. It is near the East Rapti River, and 23 km (14 mi) east of Narayangarh city.
